Do you want a Summer and or Fall job at E.C Phillips & Son Inc? We start hiring in mid June and continue until all positions are filled; our summer season runs through October 15th. During the summer we have about 190 processing positions to fill and a total of 200 to 250 employees. Our plant does stay open for fall and winter fisheries and there is work available through November.

Requirements
Federal regulations require all employees to provide documents that prove their identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Applicants must provide original documents at the time of hire. Ketchikan, Alaska is the original point of hire.
Our employees are required to fulfill any Company, Federal and State regulations pertaining to both safety and personal health requirements. For example the Federal Food & Drug regulations require that all employees must wear a head covering at all times while processing, as you will be working with food for human consumption. If you have facial hair, it is required that you wear a beard net at all times. Employees often choose to shave facial hari to avoid wearing beard nets.
Environment
Employees work around and with hundreds of thousands of fish. Employees spend most of their time processing fish for fresh and frozen shipments and sales. Fish processing plants are a very cold and wet environment; there is lots of fish blood, guts and water on the floor which is constantly wet and slick. If you are offended by fish blood, guts or the sight, feel or smell of fish this would not be a job for you.
Most employees start on the processing line cleaning fish. This requires hours of standing and repetitive motion. Employees may be moved to other areas as they are needed. Hours worked can vary from eight to twelve hours a day, seven days a week. The working area in the processing plant can be noisy, busy and constantly changing.
Wages & Housing
Employees must provide their own way to Ketchikan, Alaska. Travel assistance may be offered to returning employees in the form of an advance and must be arranged through the Human Resource Department.
In an average season an employee can work 450 - 600 hours with a number of those hours being paid at the overtime rate. Company housing is available for approximately 130 people. Employees are housed in apartments with an average of 4 persons to an apartment. Each apartment has a bedroom, bathroom, common area and kitchenette. Meals are not provided by E.C. Phillips & Son. There is a grocery store, McDonald's, Taco Time, Godfather's Pizza and two other eateries within a five (5) minute walk from the Plant.
